Voting is open.
The Online Elimination videos are live, and one spot at the National Final is being decided by you.
Every Open Category routine is up now. Watch them all, then vote for the DJ you want to see on stage at Oxford Art Factory on Sunday 11 October.
The winner of the AlphaTheta People’s Choice goes straight through to the National Final, joining the DJs picked by the judges.
How to vote
Three steps
1. Head to the AlphaTheta People’s Choice page and watch the routines.
2. Sign in. It takes about ten seconds and it is how we make sure every vote is a real person voting once.
3. Vote for your DJ. One vote per person.
Voting closes 11:59pm Saturday 19 September. All National Finalists are announced Sunday 20 September.
Hear from the competitors
Competitor interviews and guest mixes are running on Cada 96.1, our Official Radio Partner, across the voting period. Listen live at cada.com.au.
The National Final
Sunday 11 October, 7pm to 1am, at Oxford Art Factory, 46 Oxford St, Darlinghurst.
Special guests DJ Beast Mode, Australia’s first DMC World Champion, and Total Eclipse of the X-Ecutioners. Both Australian champions head to the DMC World Finals in London from 12 to 15 November.
How the AlphaTheta People’s Choice is decided. Open Category only. Your site vote is the biggest part of the result, but YouTube views and comments on the elimination videos count too. We rank the Open DJs three times, once by site votes, once by YouTube views, once by YouTube comments. The top five in each list score 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 points. Site votes are then multiplied by four, YouTube views by two and YouTube comments by one. The highest combined total takes the spot.
Site vote totals are live on the voting page. YouTube figures update once a day. The final reading is taken when voting closes and the full scorecard is published with the announcement on Sunday 20 September, in the same format as the judges’ scorecards.
If ranks are tied, the tie breaks on site votes, then views, then likes. If it is still tied, the judges decide. Votes we believe have been bought or generated automatically will be removed, and any DJ involved will be withdrawn from the AlphaTheta People’s Choice. YouTube is not a sponsor of this competition.
