Australian DJ history has been rewritten. Sydney’s DJ Beast Mode has officially claimed Australia’s first-ever DMC World Title, winning the Open Category at the 2025 DMC World DJ Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
The landmark victory took place during DMC’s 40th Anniversary celebration — a global showcase featuring the world’s top DJs across multiple categories. Beast Mode’s performance was a masterclass in skill, showmanship, and musicality, earning him the top honour in front of an international audience and a panel of elite judges.

Beast Mode’s achievement marks the first time an Australian DJ has taken out a DMC World Championship — a goal decades in the making for the local DJ community. Known for his precision, creativity, and crowd-rocking energy, Beast Mode has long been regarded as one of the country’s most accomplished and respected artists.

Judging focuses on music selection, composition, originality, foundation, showmanship, and overall impact, with competitors performing diverse, genre-spanning sets.
