Privacy Policy

Last updated 6 September 2026

This policy explains how United DJ Mixing School, trading as DMC Australia, handles personal information collected through dmcaustralia.com.au and at our events. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean DMC Australia.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to run the site, the championships and our shop. Depending on how you use the site, that may include:

  • Your name, email address and any details you give us when you register an account, enter a competition, vote, subscribe to updates or contact us.
  • Order and delivery details if you buy something from our shop, including your postal address.
  • Competition entry material you send us, such as videos, photographs and biographies.
  • Technical information created automatically when you use the site, including your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit.
  • A record of votes cast in our public voting awards, including the account used and the IP address it was cast from.

We do not collect sensitive information such as health, racial, political or religious information, and we ask that you do not send it to us.

How we collect it

Usually directly from you, when you fill in a form, create an account, cast a vote, place an order, enter a competition or email us. Some technical information is collected automatically by our website and by the services we use to run it.

Why we collect it
  • To run the Australian DMC DJ Championships, including entries, judging and public voting.
  • To protect the integrity of our competitions, including detecting duplicate or artificial votes.
  • To process and deliver shop orders.
  • To answer your enquiries.
  • To notify you about DMC Australia events and news, where you have agreed to receive them.
  • To keep the site secure and working properly.
Competition entries

If you enter one of our competitions, we publish your name or DJ name, your state, your biography, your photograph and your competition video on this site, on our YouTube channel and on our social media. We may also use that material to promote future events. If you enter, you are agreeing to that.

Voting records

When you vote in a public award on this site, we record the account you used and the internet connection the vote came from. We use this only to check that votes are genuine and to remove duplicates. We do not publish individual voting records.

Marketing

When you vote or register with us you may be asked to agree to receive news and event announcements from DMC Australia. If you agree, we may email you about our events, competitions and offers. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe by emailing us. We do not sell or rent your email address to anyone else.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where we need to, including with the service providers who run parts of our site and business for us, such as our website host, email provider, payment processors and delivery companies. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Some of these providers store information outside Australia, including in the United States. By using the site you accept that your information may be handled overseas. We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers but we cannot control how every overseas provider operates.

Payments and cookies

Payments in our shop are processed by third party payment providers. We do not receive or store your full card details.

Our site uses cookies and similar technology to keep you logged in, remember your cart and understand how the site is used. You can block cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site may stop working if you do.

How we hold it

Information is held in our website systems and with the providers described above. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. No system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We keep information for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or for as long as we are required to keep it. We may keep competition records and results indefinitely as part of the historical record of the championships.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to verify who you are first, and there are some situations where we may not be able to give access or delete information, in which case we will tell you why.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, contact us and we will try to resolve it. If you are still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
